2023 MLK Parade Float

Annually, Dr. Phillips Center participates in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade. The theme for the 2023 event was based on the famous MLK quote, “Everybody can be great because anybody can serve”. With that in mind I knew I wanted to bring in the colors of DPC’s sunset branding and use MLK’s image to share the message. Each color represents different facets of the organization. DPC’s mission is ‘Arts for Every Life’ and to share that sentiment at an MLK event felt very harmonious.
In addition to the float, I designed a t-shirt with elements from the float to be worn by the volunteers, performers, students and family members that participated in the parade.
Following the parade, I won the award for ‘Best Creative Entry’ selected by the event host.
